Red Flower Broad Bean

(Available February 2022) This is a vegetable that is also ornamental. It is less prolific than other types of broad beans and also a smaller plant, although it needs support from the wind. The red flowers are really pretty and last quite a long time before the short pods are formed , first from the bottom of the plant. Sow in winter for a spring crop. It likes a slightly alkaline soil (add lime) and rich soil .
